Every year there are several new TV shows that capture the audiences attention to become instant hits and 2013 should be no different. There are several hot new shows debuting this year that should have no problem staying on the air for many years to come. The biggest hit show of 2013 is most likely going to be “The Following” starring Kevin Bacon as an FBI agent attempting to take down a cult run by a serial killer. The show has already developed an extremely large following of its own in just the few short weeks it has been on the air. “The Americans” on FX is another great TV show that you will be hearing a lot about in the future. The show began airing in January 2013, and it has already been picked up for next season. “The Americans” stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Soviet spies posing as American citizens during the Cold War. The final hot new show of 2013 is “Ray Donovan” on Showtime. The show will premier this June, satellite tv for detriot, and it stars Liev Schreiber as a man who fixes the problems of celebrities while dealing with his own personal problems. “Ray Donovan” also stars Jon Voight.

Reality TV shows are everywhere these days and that includes several focused on the art of dance. Perhaps the most noticeable ones are those that center on competition, primarily the celebrity ‘Dancing with the Stars’ that just wrapped up its 16th season on ABC, available at http://www.directspecialtv.com, or the amateur ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ that has just begun another season on the Fox Network. The latter show has proved quite successful in taking amateur dancers of all styles and launching them into successful careers, either as performers or choreographers. In fact, some have crossed over to work on other dance shows.
Dancing with the Stars actually got off to a rocky start in its first season with a controversial finale that gave General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco the win over actor John O’Hurley. In fact, a special dance-off show aired later in which O’Hurley defeated Monaco, though Monaco still officially is deemed the winner of season 1. Since then, a slew of actors, singers, comedians, and athletes have learned how to dance in front of America.
Then there is Dance Moms, a controversial series that airs on Lifetime. Young kids are shown in their efforts to learn to dance and become stars. The controversy comes both with how the coach, Abby Lee Miller, handles the students, especially when she shouts, and in how the moms and kids deal with the classes and one another. In fact, the show’s entire premise has been questioned, not just by viewers but by Miller herself who claims much of her manner of interaction is done at the insistence of the producers.
Yet another show is Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew, a show that allows hip-hop dancers and groups to compete for the big prize. These street kids may be the closest America comes to seeing what is really new and hip with the young dancers of the day.
Dancing reality shows have become quite successful around the world, including Australia and especially England. Many of America’s shows began in Britain, including Dancing with the Stars which got its inspiration from the British Strictly Come Dancing which still airs there.
